Mimaland

Mimaland was a recreation park located in Gombak that offered water-based attractions, a large lake, and on-site lodging options. The facilities included hotel-style rooms, chalets, and dormitory spaces designed to accommodate visitors staying for extended periods.

The park opened in 1971 as Malaysia's first theme park, pioneering the country's entertainment industry. Operations ceased in 1994 after a landslide caused major damage to the pool facilities, leading to permanent closure.

The name Mimaland reflected a vision of presenting Malaysia in miniature form, representing an early effort to establish a major recreational destination in the region. The site attracted visitors seeking a unified place where families could explore multiple attractions and spend time together.

The park was situated near the Gombak-Bentong road and remained accessible by that route. Visitors should have known that the terrain was hilly, making comfortable shoes essential for exploring the different sections.

The site featured a prehistoric section with dinosaur models, which came before similar attractions appeared elsewhere in Southeast Asia. This collection of dinosaur displays was notable for its time and attracted families seeking that type of experience.
