Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex, Governmental courthouse in Segambut district, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex is a judicial building in Kuala Lumpur arranged in a U-shaped layout across about 12 hectares. Within its five levels, the structure houses 30 High Court rooms, 21 Sessions Court rooms, and 26 Magistrates Court rooms for handling different types of legal proceedings.
Construction of this judicial complex began in 2004 and finished in 2007, bringing together courts that were previously scattered across separate colonial buildings in the city. The project represented a major effort to modernize and centralize the city's court structures.
The structure blends Islamic, Moorish, and Palladian design traditions through its curved domes and symmetrical colonnades visible across the five levels. This architectural fusion reflects Malaysia's diverse cultural influences and shapes how the building appears to anyone who visits.
The complex provides 500 parking spaces for visitors and is accessible via KTM Segambut station and Rapid KL bus service T821. Allow time to navigate the large U-shaped layout since court rooms are spread across multiple levels and different sections.
During its early months of operation in 2007, the building faced technical problems including ceiling collapses and flooding that triggered investigations by the Public Works Department. These initial challenges eventually led to improvements in the building's systems and infrastructure.
