Fisherman Museum, Maritime heritage museum in Kota Tinggi, Malaysia

The Tanjung Balau Fishermen Museum houses traditional boats, nets, and fishing gear that local communities relied on for their daily work along the coast. The collection shows the tools and methods that shaped how families made their living from the sea.

The museum was founded in 1992 and documents the long history of fishing in the Kota Tinggi region. It preserves knowledge about how people lived and worked at sea, practices that had shaped this area for generations.

One of the four galleries is devoted to the Desaru shipwreck, a wreck found in the waters off this coast. The museum also holds a Time Tunnel gallery run by KEJORA, the Johor Tenggara Development Authority, which built the museum and still oversees it with a curator and four permanent staff.
