Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex, Petroleum industrial complex in Pengerang, Malaysia.
The Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex is an industrial facility on Malaysia's southeastern peninsula that combines refineries, petrochemical plants, and liquefied natural gas terminals. These facilities work together as an integrated system to process crude oil and produce chemical products for export and domestic use.
The complex was established beginning in 2013 with construction of the Deepwater Terminal, representing Malaysia's entry into large-scale petroleum processing. This development created new capacity for crude oil storage and refining operations in the country.
The development transformed the local workforce through specialized training programs, preparing 6,898 residents for careers in petrochemical operations since 2013.
The deep harbor channel allows large tanker ships to dock and load or unload petroleum products directly at the terminals. Access to the facility is restricted for safety reasons, so visitors should arrange any guided tours well in advance.
The complex processes 300,000 barrels per day and produces 3.6 million tonnes of petrochemical products annually through its integrated refinery system.
