Pekan District

The district spans 3,846 square kilometers along the South China Sea coast, featuring both urban developments and natural landscapes with numerous waterways.

The region transformed from the ancient maritime trading post of Inderapura into Pekan District, which now functions as the royal capital of Pahang state.

The district population consists of 96.9 percent Malays, who maintain traditional practices through local arts, cuisine, and religious observances at numerous mosques.

The Pekan Municipal Council manages eleven administrative divisions called mukims, providing essential services to more than 121,000 residents across the territory.

The district houses Malaysia's primary military vehicle manufacturing facility, established in 2001, alongside multiple educational institutions specializing in automotive engineering.
