Pasar Payang, Traditional marketplace in Terengganu, Malaysia.
Pasar Payang is a two-story marketplace with fresh produce on the ground floor and traditional textiles displayed upstairs. The building sits beside Terengganu River and houses dozens of shops selling goods from produce to crafts.
The marketplace opened in 2019, replacing older trading structures that had served the city since the 1960s. It quickly became the main commercial center for shopping in Kuala Terengganu.
Vendors sell handcrafted batik fabrics, silk cloth, and songket textiles that show local skills passed down through generations. Shoppers come here to find items that reflect the region's artistic traditions.
The market is open daily and easy to reach on foot or by taxi from central Kuala Terengganu. Arrive in the morning when vendors have just set out their goods for the freshest selection.
Vendors prepare Keropok Lekor here daily, a local snack made from fish and sago powder that is specialty of this region. The crispy strips come with spicy chili sauce and taste nothing like food from other markets.
