The structure features nine large domes, fifty-one smaller domes, and four minarets overlooking the Terengganu River, with interior space accommodating around fifteen hundred worshippers.
The mosque was built between 2006 and 2008 following a contemporary design and was inaugurated by Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu. Since its completion, it has become a prominent landmark in the city's skyline.
The mosque blends Islamic architectural traditions with modern materials and serves as a gathering place for religious celebrations within the Islamic Heritage Park. Visitors can observe how contemporary construction techniques merge with time-honored spiritual practices.
Visitors should wear respectful clothing and be aware of prayer times to avoid disrupting worship. The building sits beside the river in an accessible location with good views from the surrounding grounds and waterfront paths.
The glass and crystal exterior produces golden reflections in sunlight during the day while evening lighting creates color-changing effects. This shifting visual character makes each time of day feel like a different experience at the site.
