The Astaka consists of two residential towers reaching heights of 278.9 meters and 255.6 meters, making Tower A the tallest building in Malaysia outside Kuala Lumpur and the tallest residential skyscraper in Southeast Asia.

The Astaka opened in June 2018 in the Iskandar Malaysia economic zone of Johor Bahru, with 438 apartments including serviced units. Its two towers stand on the 32 m Bukit Senyum rise, which lifts their total height above 300 m. Johor Bahru's new city hall, built in 2020, stands at the front of the site.

The Astaka's name comes from the Sanskrit-derived word for a royal pavilion or throne hall, fitting a residence whose penthouse duplexes in both towers belong exclusively to the Sultan of Johor. The towers stand beside the Johor Abu Bakar Museum, a building with 135 years of history, so residents pass a former royal-era landmark at the doorstep.

The Astaka stands at One Bukit Senyum, on a 32 m hill, and is within walking distance of the CIQ Complex, the Johor Bahru checkpoint for crossings to Singapore. The Johor Bahru City Council building sits at the front of the site and was completed in 2020.

The Astaka features private elevators serving individual units and offers panoramic views of both Johor Bahru's skyline and neighboring Singapore from its luxury residences equipped with four-tier security systems.
