Castilla Province, Administrative province in Arequipa Region, Peru
The territory spans 6,914 square kilometers across three distinct regions: Lower Castilla, Middle Castilla, and Upper Castilla, featuring valleys and mountains.
The province was established in 1854 through a supreme decree, following a petition signed by 410 citizens from the Majes Valley.
The population combines Spanish speakers at 80 percent, Quechua speakers at 19 percent, and Aymara speakers at 1.5 percent across 477 settlements.
The capital city of Aplao functions as the administrative center, connecting fourteen districts through a network of roads and commercial activities.
