The Dubai Fountain, Water fountain in Dubai.
The Dubai Fountain is a large choreographed fountain system located on an artificial lake at the base of the Burj Khalifa. The installation includes jets, water streams and moving elements that synchronize with music and lighting effects.
The installation opened in 2009 and was designed by WET Design, the same firm behind the fountains at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. The design followed similar projects but was scaled to a much larger size.
Residents and visitors gather on the promenades around the lake in the evening to watch the water shows. Performances run to classical pieces, Arabic songs and international hits, reflecting the multicultural character of the city.
The best spots to watch are along the pedestrian paths around the lake or from the terraces of nearby buildings. Performances take place during the day and evening, with the night shows enhanced by lighting.
The system can shoot water jets up to a height of over 500 feet (150 meters) into the air. More than 6600 lights and 50 color projectors ensure that each show is visible and colorful after dark.
