Bajram Curri Boulevard, Main boulevard in central Tirana, Albania
Bajram Curri Boulevard is a main east-west street in central Tirana, lined with government buildings, shops, and offices on both sides. It meets Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard and opens onto Skanderbeg Square, placing it at the heart of the city's road network.
The street was originally named Shqipëria e Re before being renamed and redesigned in 2003 as part of a broader renewal of central Tirana. That transformation changed the look of the city center and gave the avenue its current layout.
The boulevard takes its name from Bajram Curri, an Albanian national figure from the early 20th century, and this connection is felt in the street's central role in city life. Cafés spill onto the pavements and locals use the route as a daily passage between neighborhoods.
The boulevard is flat and easy to walk along, making it a straightforward starting point for exploring central Tirana on foot. From here, the main squares and connecting streets are all within walking distance.
Along its route, the boulevard passes by three parks, threading green spaces through the middle of the city center. For one of the busiest streets in Tirana, this closeness to open green areas is unexpected.
