Ebu Beker Mosque, Islamic monument in Shkodër, Albania.
Ebu Beker Mosque is an Islamic mosque in Shkodër, Albania, featuring a tall minaret and a wide dome that stand out in the city skyline. Inside, the space is bright and open, with separate sections for men and women and a hall that can host larger gatherings.
The current building was completed in 1995, replacing an earlier mosque that was demolished during Albania's communist period. Its reopening was one of the first visible signs of religious freedom returning to the country after decades of state atheism.
The mosque is an active gathering point for Shkodër's Muslim community, used for daily prayer and religious celebrations throughout the year. Visitors can observe the steady rhythm of people coming and going around prayer times.
The main entrance is on Rruga Fushë Cele, near Hotel Colosseo, and is easy to reach on foot from the center of Shkodër. Visitors should dress modestly and be aware that entry may be limited during prayer times.
The mosque was built with financial support from Saudi Arabia, which was unusual for a country that had only recently restored religious freedom. This international contribution made it one of the first large religious construction projects in Albania after communism ended.
