Mali i Gramës, Mountain summit in eastern Albania
Mali i Gramës is a mountain summit in eastern Albania reaching 2,345 meters and holding several mountain lakes, including the largest on Mount Korab called Gramë. The peak stands at the heart of a ridge system with rocky slopes and alpine pastures extending across the landscape.
The mountain range served as a natural boundary since ancient times, marking routes between regions used by early communities. Evidence shows this area was both a passage route and a settlement zone for people moving through the landscape.
Shepherds use the mountain pastures following seasonal patterns that have shaped life here for generations, maintaining a way of living tied to the land.
The ascent requires proper mountaineering equipment and takes about six hours from the nearest vehicle access point. Starting early and checking conditions is important since weather at altitude can change quickly.
The northern side holds a deep canyon carved by the Gramë stream flowing through limestone formations and creating distinctive geological shapes. These erosion features have developed over long periods and give the landscape its character.
