Arevik National Park, National park in Syunik Province, Armenia.
Arevik National Park is a protected landscape in southern Armenia that spans rugged mountain terrain with varied ecosystems and habitats. The land rises from lower valleys to higher ridges, with forests, meadows, rocky slopes, and streams creating a diverse natural environment throughout the region.
The protected area was created in 2009 to safeguard the region's natural ecosystems and wildlife populations. Archaeological remains scattered throughout the park reveal that people have inhabited these mountains for thousands of years.
The park contains multiple archaeological sites that document the presence of early human settlements and activities in this mountainous territory.
The best time to visit is from June to October when weather is more stable and trails are easier to walk. You can reach the park from nearby towns, but you will need your own transportation to access different sections and explore deeper into the landscape.
The park is home to more than 150 butterfly species, including rare varieties found only in specific mountain regions. The varying elevations create distinct habitats for different butterflies, making this a remarkable location for encountering these insects.
