Yerevan Zoo, Zoo in Yerevan, Armenia
The Yerevan Zoo extends across 35 hectares of land, providing habitats for more than 3,000 animals representing 300 different species from various continents.
The facility began operations in 1940 following an official decision by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Armenia, marking the first zoological park in the country.
The zoo maintains a collection of regional wildlife, including Syrian brown bears, Armenian mouflons, and black vultures, representing the natural heritage of the Caucasus region.
Visitors can access the zoo daily from 9 AM to 8:30 PM, except Mondays when it opens at 11 AM, with reduced admission rates for families and seniors.
The facility includes a hippotherapy center, combining animal care with therapeutic services for the local community.
