Holy Mother of God Church

The church exhibits both orange and black tufa stones in its construction, creating a distinct pattern across its exterior walls.

Built between 1828 and 1830 through donations from Captain Piluman Tayiryants, the church replaced an older structure destroyed by the 1826 earthquake.

The church maintains several 13th-century khachkars in its yard, displaying the traditional Armenian stone cross art typical of medieval periods.

Located 116 kilometers from Yerevan, the church remains open to visitors and functions as an active religious center of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Three bells, received as gifts in 2014, ring throughout Vanadzor, marking religious ceremonies and daily prayers for the local community.
