Sevan National Park

Sevan National Park is a protected area covering about 342 square kilometers around a large mountain lake with diverse landscapes. The terrain includes flat wetland zones along the shore, rocky ridges, and basalt-like rock formations that rise across the water.

The park was established in 1978 to protect the lake ecosystem and surrounding landscapes for the future. This founding was a significant step in Armenia's effort to preserve its natural resources.

The park takes its name from the Armenian word for lake, and fishing communities have shaped life along the shore for centuries. You will notice boats and nets throughout, reflecting how deeply people are tied to these waters.

Marked trails connect various viewpoints around the lake, making exploration straightforward for visitors. Wear proper footwear since the ground is uneven and trail conditions vary depending on the season.

More than 260 bird species live here, including two varieties found nowhere else in the world. These rare birds draw birdwatchers and nature lovers from different countries.
