Artanish Mountain, Mountain summit in Gegharkunik Province, Armenia.
Mount Artanish reaches 2,461 meters and forms the principal peak of the Arjakar range in the region. Its slopes are covered with meadows and native shrubs that give the mountain range its distinctive character.
The mountain formed millions of years ago through volcanic activity and still displays distinct rock formations across the landscape. These geological features continue to shape the region's appearance today.
The mountain serves as a gathering place where local communities celebrate seasonal traditions and share meals during warmer months. People use this natural setting to maintain connections and mark important occasions together.
The hiking trails are accessible from April through November, with guides and detailed maps available at the village information center. Visitors should come prepared with appropriate gear and be aware of weather conditions during these months.
From the summit, visitors can see the point where Greater and Lesser Lake Sevan meet, visible between the Artanish and Noratus peninsulas. This view is possible from very few other locations in the area.
