Cableway in Tsaghkadzor, Aerial tramway in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia
The Tsaghkadzor cableway is a cable transport system with five stations along the eastern face of Mount Teghenis, connecting elevations from roughly 1966 to 2819 meters. The system provides access to multiple ski runs and outdoor areas spread across different altitude levels.
The original cableway opened in 1967 and underwent complete renovation in 2004 when the Italian company LEITNER installed modern equipment and new infrastructure. This renovation gave the system its present-day design and capabilities.
The cableway links visitors to mountain spaces where seasonal outdoor pursuits and local traditions shape how people spend their time in the high terrain. This is a gathering place where the community comes together for recreation and sport throughout the year.
The journey to the top takes about 32 minutes, and visitors will find rescue stations, first aid facilities, and training areas along the way. It helps to check weather conditions beforehand, as conditions at the summit can differ significantly from the base.
On clear days, the highest point offers views toward Mount Ararat in the distance, a legendary peak that towers beyond the surrounding ridge line. Many visitors come specifically to experience this rare viewpoint.
