Description
Tsaghkadzor is a mountain town situated at 1841 meters elevation on the slopes of Mount Teghenis in Kotayk Province. The area spreads across alpine meadows with a network of ski tracks winding through snow-covered peaks.
History
The settlement began as a hunting ground for Arsacid kings during the 3rd century. Later, Prince Grigor Magistros founded the Kecharis Monastery in 1033, which shaped the area's future development.
Culture
The Kecharis Monastery displays medieval Armenian architecture with stone-carved religious designs across its churches and chapels. This sacred complex shapes how the town is perceived and remains central to local identity.
Practical
The ski resort operates fifteen runs totaling about 30 kilometers with five lifts serving the slopes. Winter conditions are best from December through March, with trails suited to different abilities.
