Surb Zoravor Astvatsatsin Church
Surb Zoravor Astvatsatsin Church, Armenian church in Shahar District, Yerevan, Armenia
The Surb Zoravor Astvatsatsin Church features a three-nave basilica design without a dome, incorporating 17th-century khachkars into its exterior walls.
Built between 1693 and 1694 on the site of a previous monastery destroyed by an earthquake in 1679, the church received funding from Khoja Panos.
The church houses the tomb of Ananias the Apostle, marked by a small domed structure added in 1889 when interior access was sealed.
Located at Ghazar Parpetsi 9B street in central Yerevan, the church maintains regular services under the Armenian Apostolic Church administration.
The church received its name Zoravor, meaning Powerful, due to its connection with a 13th-century Bible that resided within its walls.
