Hovhannes Tumanyan House-Museum, Literary museum in Yerevan, Armenia.
The Hovhannes Tumanyan House-Museum is a literary museum in Yerevan dedicated to the Armenian writer and poet. It holds manuscripts, photographs, personal items, and approximately 8000 volumes from his private library.
The museum was founded in 1953 by Tumanyan's daughter, who served as its first director. A new two-story building was added in 1969 to mark the centenary of the poet's birth.
The second floor displays an exact reproduction of Tumanyan's Tiflis apartment, showing how the Armenian writer lived and worked during his most productive years. Walking through these rooms gives a sense of his daily life and creative space.
The museum is open daily and offers guided tours that walk visitors through the exhibitions at a comfortable pace. Plan to spend time exploring the library and personal items, as there is plenty to discover.
A small chapel on the grounds houses the poet's heart as a final resting place, designed by a notable architect. The courtyard also features a bust of the writer created by a renowned Armenian sculptor.
