National Parliament

The National Parliament is a government office building in Yerevan constructed with light orange tufa stone, featuring marble entrances and wide corridors filled with natural light. The structure contains various functional spaces designed to accommodate legislative activities and administrative operations.

The building was completed in 1950 and initially served as the home of the Supreme Soviet during the Soviet era. After Armenia's independence, it became the seat of the National Assembly in 1995.

The interior spaces display red and green halls with gilded details that reflect Armenian craftsmanship through the skillful use of local materials. Visitors immediately notice how these color choices and decorative elements follow local design traditions rooted in the region's artistic heritage.

The building sits on Baghramyan Avenue near major landmarks such as the Cascade, Matenadaran, and Opera House. Its central location makes it easy to combine with other city sights during a visit.

A 2009 expansion added a subsidiary building with natural and artificial wood elements that modernized the original 1950s complex. This later addition creates an interesting contrast to the older core structure and shows how the building adapted to changing needs.
