Geological museum named after H.Karapetyan

The Geological Museum Karapetyan is a science museum in Yerevan that houses collections of rocks, minerals, and fossils from around the world. The exhibits are organized into six sections, each exploring different aspects of earth sciences.

A professor named Hovhannes Karapetyan founded this museum in 1937 using his personal collection of geological specimens. The institution adopted his name after his death and grew into the research center it is today.

Visitors learn about Armenia's underground world through displays of minerals and fossils found within its borders. The collection helps people understand what lies beneath the landscape they see every day.

The museum is located at the Institute of Geological Sciences and welcomes visitors on weekdays during regular hours. Guided tours in multiple languages help you understand the displays better.

A special section displays rare minerals from around the world that were donated by a collector of Armenian descent. These specimens show the incredible variety of rocks and crystals found across different continents.
