President's Residence, Yerevan, Official residence in Baghramyan Avenue, Yerevan, Armenia
The President's Residence in Yerevan is a two-story building with a yellowish tuff stone facade located on Baghramyan Avenue. The structure contains multiple formal halls and occupies a large footprint with landscaped surroundings designed for governmental functions.
The building was completed in 1951 by architect Mark Grigorian and initially served as the Council of Ministers headquarters of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. Substantial renovation work during the 1980s expanded and modernized the structure significantly.
The residence serves as a formal gathering place for state functions and diplomatic meetings, with different halls designed for various official purposes. Visitors can observe how the building's layout reflects its role in the city's political and social life.
The residence welcomes visitors on weekends and during certain weekday hours, with access managed by the Honor Guard. It is advisable to check current visiting times before planning your visit, as schedules may vary seasonally or for administrative reasons.
The facade is constructed from distinctive yellowish tuff stone, a local building material that gives Yerevan much of its character. This stone has become synonymous with the city's visual identity and connects this official building to the broader architectural heritage surrounding it.
