Reserva nacional Laguna Torca

Reserva nacional Laguna Torca is a protected nature area along the central Chilean Pacific coast that combines a lagoon with extensive forest. It contains several different habitats, ranging from open water areas to forested zones.

The reserve was established in 1985 to protect the wetland from sand dune advancement and environmental changes. Its designation marked a turning point in safeguarding this fragile coastal landscape.

The Environmental Interpretation Center helps visitors understand how birds and other wildlife depend on this wetland habitat through its displays. You can learn how the different areas of the reserve support the animals that live there.

The site can be accessed via two marked walking trails that showcase different landscapes. Visitors should allow time to explore both paths to experience the various habitats and wildlife viewing opportunities.

The lagoon is home to black-necked swans and various waterbird species that stop here during their migration routes. The surrounding waters also support native fish species that are rarely found in other areas.
