Edificio Santiago Centro, Office building in Santiago commune, Chile
Edificio Santiago Centro is a modern office tower in downtown Santiago with 25 floors rising approximately 94 meters above the street. It combines office and commercial spaces, with a large shopping gallery on the ground and basement levels containing more than 200 retailers.
Construction began in 1967 on the site of the former Ministry of Education building, and it became Chile's tallest building from 1969 until 1978. The tower marked a turning point in Santiago's urban development during that decade.
The building incorporates an underground connection to Universidad de Chile metro station, where visitors can observe the prominent mural 'Visual Memory of a Nation'.
The building is easily accessible via the Universidad de Chile metro station located directly beneath it. The shopping area is open during standard commercial hours and offers stores for various needs and interests.
The structure is composed of three separate towers that create an unusual architectural arrangement. This division is clearly visible from outside and sets it apart from other high-rises in the city.
