Amolanas Viaduct, Steel bridge on Route 5 North near La Serena, Chile.

The Amolanas Viaduct spans across a deep ravine with a height of 100.6 meters, making it the highest road bridge in Chile.

The first Amolanas Viaduct was constructed in the 1950s by Fermandois and Martinez company, while a second structure was added in the late 1990s.

The bridge represents a milestone in Chilean engineering, connecting communities along the Elqui Highway and supporting regional development.

The structure incorporates 12 accelerographs monitored by the National Accelerograph Network to detect and measure seismic movements affecting the bridge.

Each support pillar features specialized viscoelastic dampers and neoprene bearings designed to absorb and control movement during earthquakes.
