Anahuarque

Anahuarque is a mountain summit in the Cusco region that rises above 4000 meters with steep slopes and rock formations typical of the southeastern Andes. The landscape features exposed stone faces, alpine grasses, and sections where snow persists depending on the season.

During Inca times, this mountain served as a landmark for settlements and helped connect different communities across the Cusco valley. Its elevated position was strategically important for oversight and communication among dispersed highland communities.

The mountain holds spiritual importance for local Andean communities, who perform ceremonies and maintain sacred sites along its slopes. Visitors can witness signs of this deep connection to the land in the pathways and offerings left at significant spots.
