Pikchu

Pikchu is a mountain summit in the Eastern Cordillera at about 3,800 meters (12,500 feet), with steep slopes and natural terraces shaping the terrain. The landscape displays old farming terraces built by earlier civilizations in this region.

The mountain was used as an agricultural area by pre-Incan societies, as shown by numerous terraces built into its slopes. These structures show how ancient civilizations farmed the mountainous landscape of the Cusco region.

Local communities view this peak as sacred and perform traditional ceremonies there that reflect their ancestral beliefs. These practices remain part of daily life for people living in the surrounding region.

The best time for climbing is from April through November, when conditions are more stable. You should acclimatize to the altitude beforehand and bring basic hiking and mountain gear.

From the summit you can see the Salinas Salt Lake spread out below you across the plain. The peak is also home to Andean animals like llamas, alpacas, and condors that you often spot there.
