Alameda Chabuca Granda, Scenic overlook and park in Lima District, Peru.
Alameda Chabuca Granda is a park with viewpoints positioned along the Rímac River bank, featuring three amphitheaters with performance stages. The site sits adjacent to the Government Palace and offers sightlines to San Cristóbal hill, Desamparados Train Station, and the Sun Rays Bridge.
The site formerly housed the Polvos Azules marketplace, which was transformed into public parkland in 1999. This conversion replaced the location of the Venetian Palace, marking a shift from commerce to recreation.
The park is named after Peruvian singer Chabuca Granda and displays a steel sculpture depicting the Marinera dance, a traditional movement form central to Lima's identity. Regular performances of Música Criolla fill the space, allowing visitors to experience this distinctive musical tradition in its natural setting.
The park features multiple viewing areas and food stands where visitors can sample local Lima cuisine. The amphitheaters are accessible throughout the day, and arriving early helps secure good seating for any performances happening.
The park hosts daily comedy and musical performances across its three open-air theaters, turning it into a live entertainment hub in the city. These regular shows mean the space constantly draws crowds and offers spontaneous cultural experiences for those who happen to visit.
