The Pinacoteca Municipal Ignacio Merino houses 883 artworks across 18 exhibition halls, displaying Peruvian paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The museum opened its doors on May 29, 1925, during the presidency of Augusto B. Leguía, with painter Daniel Hernández serving as its first director.
The collection includes 254 watercolors by Pancho Fierro depicting daily life scenes, alongside works by notable artists like Francisco Laso and José Sabogal.
Located in downtown Lima on Rufino Torrico Street, the museum welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM with wheelchair accessibility.
The institution preserves 36 original paintings by Ignacio Merino himself, which the artist donated to Lima before his death in Paris in 1876.
