Chayu Nain Communal Reserve

Chayu Nain Communal Reserve is a large forest area that spans across the boundary between Bagua and Utcubamba provinces in the Amazonas region. It contains dense rainforest with numerous streams and varying elevations that create different habitats for plants and animals.

The protected status was formally established in 2009 by the National Service of Natural Protected Areas to safeguard forest resources from overexploitation. Its creation involved collaboration with local communities who have inhabited and worked in this region for generations.
