Our Lady of Mercy Cathedral, Babahoyo, Roman Catholic cathedral in Babahoyo, Ecuador.

Our Lady of Mercy Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church facing the 24 de Mayo park in central Babahoyo, Los Ríos province. The present building was begun, consecrated and opened in 1963, and in 1969 a mural dedicated to the Virgin of Mercy was blessed inside. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary under the title of Our Lady of Mercy.

Construction of the cathedral began in 1963 as a major religious center for the region. It later became the seat of the Babahoyo Diocese and has since established itself as the principal church of the diocese.

The cathedral serves as the religious center where the local Catholic community gathers for worship and celebration throughout the year. Its presence shapes the spiritual identity of the central area of Babahoyo.

The cathedral is located in downtown Babahoyo and is easily accessible on foot from the main square of the city. Visitors can attend mass or view the architecture from outside, allowing flexibility in timing their visit.

The Diocese of Babahoyo was created in 1994 by Pope John Paul II's bull Constat praelaturam, building on a territorial prelature erected in 1951 by Pope Pius XII. The cathedral, consecrated in 1963, thus became a seat thirty-one years after its opening. In 1969 the mural dedicated to the Virgin of Mercy was blessed.
