Monte de los gauchos, Provincial city in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina

Azul is a provincial city in Buenos Aires Province situated on the plains at 137 meters above sea level. The city blends colonial buildings with modern structures and hosts schools of agronomy and law as part of the National University of Central Buenos Aires.

The city was founded on December 16, 1832, as a fort under Governor Juan Manuel de Rosas designed to protect settlers from raids. This defensive outpost became the foundation for what would later grow into a regional city.

The Miguel de Cervantes Festival happens every year since 2007, bringing together people who enjoy literature and visiting exhibitions and performances at Casa Ronco. This event shapes how the city celebrates books and words.

The city is easy to explore since major spots like Casa Ronco antiquarian library and Teatro Español are within walking distance. The flat terrain makes navigation simple, and visitors can move between different areas without difficulty.

The Teatro Español was built in 1897 and experienced a remarkable moment in 1992 when the Bolshoi Ballet performed there. This rare event for a regional city showed the theater's importance in Argentina's cultural landscape.
