Barrio Seré, Residential neighborhood in Castelar, Argentina
Barrio Seré is a residential neighborhood in Castelar built on land formerly used for agriculture and horse breeding. Today it features residential streets, green spaces, and the Gorki Grana recreational and cultural center.
A French entrepreneur named Jean Sère purchased a large parcel of land near Morón in 1868 and established a horse breeding farm there. The land was later subdivided into residential lots in the 1940s and developed into the residential neighborhood it is today.
The neighborhood takes its name from its French founder Jean Sère and today shows a pattern of wide streets and private gardens. Residents use the public space regularly for everyday activities, creating a lived-in residential setting.
The neighborhood is easy to explore on foot with wide, open streets that make navigation straightforward. Several local schools and community centers operate throughout the area and are generally open to neighbors and visitors.
An urban nature reserve in the heart of the neighborhood protects native plants and wildlife and offers visitors a chance to discover local ecosystems. The green space serves both as a lung for the area and as a learning site for schools from across the region.
