Libertadores de América Stadium, Football stadium in Avellaneda, Argentina
Libertadores de América Stadium is a football ground in Avellaneda, south of Buenos Aires, that hosts matches on natural grass. The venue comprises four covered stands that together seat over 52,000 spectators.
The ground opened in 1928 as the first in South America built entirely from concrete. In 2005 the venue received its current name as a tribute to the club's international achievements.
This ground belongs to Club Atlético Independiente, a team with seven Copa Libertadores titles. Supporters respectfully call the player Ricardo Bochini El Bocha and regard him as one of the finest technical players in Argentine football history.
Several bus lines and commuter trains connect the site with central Buenos Aires. The stands are covered, making a visit comfortable even in changing weather.
The full name honors Ricardo Bochini, the player with the most appearances for Independiente. Diego Maradona publicly named Bochini his great inspiration and studied his style of play closely.
