Government House of Buenos Aires Province

The Government House of Buenos Aires Province is a red brick palace with monumental arches at its facade and four pairs of Ionic columns framing the entrance. The structure features symmetrical wings surrounding interior courtyards that house administrative offices and government workspaces.

Construction began in 1882 as the first major public building project in La Plata and was completed after nine years. This structure marked the beginning of the city's modern development as the new provincial capital.

The interior hall displays portraits of important figures from Argentine history alongside symbols representing justice and economic progress. These works reflect the values that shaped provincial governance from its early days.

The building sits across from Plaza San Martín and is easily reached via the main streets of the city. Keep in mind that this is an active government workplace, so access and viewing conditions may be restricted for visitors.

The palace columns blend two distinct architectural styles in an unexpected way: the lower section displays Tuscan features while the upper portion incorporates Egyptian influences. This unusual combination makes the structure stand out to architecture enthusiasts.
