Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, Settlement in Tristan da Cunha, Saint Helena
Edinburgh of the Seven Seas occupies a coastal area at the northern edge of Tristan da Cunha, featuring single-story buildings and a small harbor.
The settlement originated in 1816 when Sergeant William Glass established a military garrison to prevent potential rescue attempts of Napoleon from Saint Helena.
The 245 residents maintain connections to their British heritage while developing distinct island traditions through farming, fishing, and community gatherings.
The settlement contains one supermarket, a post office, St Mary's Anglican Church, St Joseph's Catholic Church, and Camogli Hospital for essential services.
The M1 road connects the settlement to agricultural areas via a community bus service called the Potato Patches Flier for resident transportation.
