Iberá Provincial Reserve

The Iberá Provincial Reserve spans 1.3 million hectares of wetlands, containing a network of marshes, lakes, lagoons, and waterways in northeastern Argentina.

The protected area, established in 1983, was expanded through land acquisitions by the Conservation Land Trust-Argentina, leading to the creation of additional parks within its boundaries.

Local communities participate in nature tourism programs, becoming certified guides and environmental stewards while sharing their knowledge of the wetlands with visitors.

Visitors can access the reserve through four main gates: Laguna Iberá, Cambyretá, San Nicolás, and Carambola, each offering different wildlife viewing and recreational opportunities.

The reserve houses successful species reintroduction programs, bringing back native fauna such as jaguars, giant river otters, tapirs, and red-and-green macaws to their natural habitat.
