Teatro Prezewodowski is a historic theater in Itaqui featuring a mechanical system that allows the main floor to align with the stage for different performances. The building sits along Rua Bento Gonçalves facing Marshal Deodoro da Fonseca Square with a distinctive entrance supported by Roman columns.

Construction began in 1883, the year carved on the foundation stone still visible outside the building, and the theatre opened in 1886. It honours Estanislau Prezewodowski, a Brazilian-born navy captain-lieutenant from Bahia who fought in the Paraguayan War and commanded the Upper Uruguay war flotilla based in Itaqui from 1872 to 1874. Closed in 1964 after years as a cinema, it reopened in 1992.

The venue served as a gathering point for traveling performers who moved between Brazil, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo, welcoming actors such as Prócopio Ferreira. It functioned as a cultural hub where people came to experience theater from across the region.

The theatre stands in central Itaqui, in Rio Grande do Sul, and its 1886 eclectic facade with neoclassical features marks it from the street. It seats 218 people and is active again, receiving shows after its 1992 restoration; check locally for performance times before planning a visit.
