Christ the Protector, Colossal statue in Encantado, Brazil

Christ the Protector is a 37.5-metre concrete and steel statue of Jesus on the Cerro de las Antenas near Encantado, Rio Grande do Sul, standing on a 6-metre base for a total of 43.5 metres. Its outstretched arms span 39 metres, and the figure weighs about 1,700 tonnes. A heart-shaped opening in the chest lets visitors look out over the town and the Vale do Taquari.

Construction began in July 2019 on the initiative of Encantado mayor Adroaldo Conzatti, who died of COVID-19 in March 2021 before the work was finished. Sculptor Genésio Gomes de Moura and his son Moisés Markus Moura designed the statue, which was essentially completed in April 2022. The non-profit Amigos de Cristo funded the roughly US$364,000 project through donations, and the site was officially opened on 4 April 2025.

The statue stands on the Cerro de las Antenas hill near Encantado, and an elevator inside leads to a platform behind the heart-shaped opening in the chest. Visits are possible on Saturdays, Sundays and Brazilian holidays while the surrounding tourist complex is still being finished.
