Antiga Estação Férrea de Santo Ângelo

The Antiga Estacao Ferrea de Santo Angelo is a railway museum housed in a brick building with two vintage train cars and an old iron water tank on its grounds. The site sits in the central district and displays objects that document the role of rail transport in the region.

The railway station opened on October 16, 1921, and operated until September 12, 1969, serving as a key transportation hub for the region. After closure, the structure continued as a historical landmark, preserving memories of the era when rail travel connected the state.

The museum displays exhibitions about railway heritage and houses a memorial dedicated to the Coluna Prestes, an important Brazilian military-political movement that shaped national history.

The entrance is located at Avenida Brasil 1265 downtown, easily reached on foot from other city attractions. Visitors should allow time for a leisurely exploration of both the indoor and outdoor spaces, as there is no rush and you can view everything at your own pace.

The building stands apart from other railway stations in Rio Grande do Sul through its distinctive brick design and construction materials used in its framework. This architectural feature makes it recognizable among the preserved rail facilities across the region.
