Praia do Santinho

Praia do Santinho is a beach in Florianópolis with about 2 kilometers of golden sand and strong waves, surrounded by dunes and native vegetation. Rocky outcrops along the shore bear ancient carved drawings that remain visible today.

Rock carvings at this location date back around 4000 years and feature geometric and human-like figures created by indigenous peoples. These marks are among the oldest evidence of human settlement on the coast of this region.

The name comes from small saint-like drawings found carved into rocky outcrops and now displayed in the open-air archaeological museum. These marks show how people connected this coastal place to their spiritual beliefs over many generations.

The beach offers showers, restrooms, and restaurants, with a wooden deck providing views of the coastline. Basic facilities make it easy to spend several hours here without needing to travel far.

The sand dunes here are home to the rare plant Hypoxis atlantica, found only in this location and a few areas in Bahia state. This plant species has adapted to the special conditions of this particular coastal environment.
