Praia do Campeche, White sand beach in Florianópolis, Brazil

Praia do Campeche is an oceanic beach on the Ilha de Santa Catarina in Florianópolis, lying between Praia da Joaquina and Praia do Morro das Pedras. It is the longest beach in the south of the island, with strong waves and cold water. No physical boundary separates it from Joaquina; the sections Riozinho, Novo Campeche and Pico da Cruz have their own names.

The dunes and restinga vegetation around the beach have been protected by municipal law since 1985, and in 2018 they were included in the Parque Natural Municipal das Dunas da Lagoa da Conceição. Access runs via the SC-405 highway and Avenida Pequeno Príncipe, named after Saint-Exupéry's book; the author visited the region in the first half of the 20th century. In the 2010s the Riozinho stretch became known, and the northern Novo Campeche section grew as the urban area approached.

The beach and neighbourhood take their name from Ilha do Campeche, the island directly offshore. The Riozinho stretch became known in the early 2010s and concentrates bodyboarders, kitesurfers, kayakers and footvolley players, while the northern Novo Campeche section grew as the urban area approached.

The beach has numerous restaurants, cafés, and shops within walking distance where you can find food, drinks, and souvenirs. Regular bus services connect the area to central Florianópolis, making it easy to get around.

Between July and August, southern right whales (Eubalaena australis) use the bay in front of the beach as a nursery, and their presence can be watched from the sand. The beach faces the Ilha do Campeche, a 1,500-metre-long, 500-metre-wide island whose western shore has fine white sand.
