Dunas da Lagoa da Conceição Municipal Nature Park, Municipal nature park in Florianópolis, Brazil

The Parque Natural Municipal das Dunas da Lagoa da Conceição covers 706.76 hectares in eastern Florianópolis, with vast dune fields covered by restinga vegetation and cut by a network of lagoons and watercourses. Its most famous section, the Dunas da Joaquina, faces Praia da Joaquina and is used for sandboarding at different levels of difficulty.

The area was listed as municipal heritage in 1975 by decrees 1.261/1975 and 213/1979, but these failed to stop illegal construction. Decree 231/1988 created the park to contain urban sprawl between Praia da Joaquina and Lagoa da Conceição. In 2018, law 10.388/2018 added restinga around Praia do Campeche and the Lagoa Pequena and Lagoa da Chica water sources, aligning it with the national conservation system.

The park offers visitors a chance to experience how coastal plant and animal communities survive in sand dunes and wetland areas. Local residents value it as a place to connect with and protect the natural heritage of their region for future generations.

Wear sturdy shoes when walking the trails, as paths cross sandy and uneven ground. Early morning or late afternoon visits offer cooler conditions and better chances to spot wildlife moving through the park.

The dunes sit above the Campeche Aquifer, a body of groundwater the park protects along with its surface springs. The 2018 expansion added Lagoa Pequena and Lagoa da Chica to the protected area, extending cover to water sources around Campeche Beach.
