Cerrado State Park, State park in Jaguariaíva, Brazil.
Cerrado State Park is a protected area at the southern edge of the cerrado biome near Jaguariaíva and contains multiple vegetation types ranging from forest to grassland. It offers hiking trails, viewpoints, and visitor facilities throughout its area.
The park was established in 1992 as a protected area and grew significantly over time through expansion in the 2000s. Its facilities were renewed and reopened after a period of improvements.
The park represents a meeting point between two distinct plant zones, where visitors can observe how one ecosystem gradually transforms into another. Walking through the trails shows how the landscape shifts from grasslands to woodland in a natural transition.
The site is located outside the city center and is best reached by car or on foot from the nearby area. The trails are suitable for different fitness levels, ranging from easy walks to more demanding hikes.
The area shelters a rare collection of ferns and related plants that scientists have documented here. Some of these species were first recorded in this region and are found in very few other locations.
