Jurupará State Park, State park in Ibiúna, Brazil
Jurupará State Park is a protected area in São Paulo state that covers roughly 26,250 hectares and combines Atlantic Forest sections with streams and waterfalls. The land is accessed from two bases: one offers trails to three waterfalls, while the other leads to Descalvado Peak.
The protected area was officially established in 1992 and placed under state management. A consultative council and management plan were later created to ensure the forest's long-term care.
The park is home to species found nowhere else and showcases the variety of Atlantic Forest life in this region of São Paulo state.
Good footwear is important since trails run through damp forest terrain and become slippery after rain. Visitors should arrive early and bring plenty of water, as you navigate trails on your own.
The land harbors dozens of endangered species under state monitoring, along with hydroelectric plants that generate power within the park. This combination of nature conservation and energy production makes managing the place particularly complex.
