The Escola Estadual Romão Puiggari stands on Rangel Pestana Avenue with a neoclassical design featuring symmetrical facades, two floors, and numerous windows.
In 1898, architect Ramos de Azevedo designed this educational institution, which opened its doors to 1,031 students under São Paulo state president Bernardino de Campos.
The school received heritage status from CONDEPHAAT in 2002 as part of a larger initiative to preserve 122 educational buildings across São Paulo state.
Students access modern facilities including a library, cafeteria, sports court, playground, reading rooms, computer lab, and video room within the historic structure.
Notable alumni include journalists Heródoto Barbeiro and musicians Nelson Gonçalves, Zizi Possi, and Isaurinha Garcia who shaped Brazilian cultural landscape.
