Quartel do Segundo Batalhão de Guardas

Quartel do Segundo Batalhão de Guardas is a two-story building with colonial and neoclassical features located in a park in São Paulo. The structure uses brick walls and rammed earth construction, decorated with colored glass doors and straight lintels that show the craftsmanship of its era.

The building was erected in 1842 and went through diverse uses including farm, convent, school, and hospital before becoming military quarters. This changing pattern reflects how São Paulo's needs shifted during the 1800s.

The building carries the names of different institutions that operated here over the decades, and the spaces still reflect the various purposes it has served. Visitors can trace these layers of history in the architecture and room details.

The site is located in a public park and easy to access for visitors interested in viewing the exterior facade. Note that the interior is not currently open for regular visits since the building is still undergoing restoration work.
